What is Uncle Ron's Academy?

Uncle Ron’s Academy is a happy dynamically fluid crew who gather in various sized groups, committees, gatherings, celebrations enjoying visits with or just hanging around Uncle Ron.

Who is Uncle Ron? Uncle Ron is a "spirit". However, the Academy should say that it was a "aha" sort or moment when we realized that the "Ron" in Ron Carioca or Ron Zacapa Centenario was not a primero nombre but Rum! So when we gather it’s more of a family adventure valuing all those great things like life, love, learning. It is more than a night out on the town... So, we are Uncle Ron’s Academy....

This blog spot will feature all sorts of things like rum, music, feasts, literature, dancing, links to other rum sites, events, adventurers and one of the great causes we support: Los Primos Project

Upcoming Happenings

Havana Nights Dance

Arrivals just before the Vernal Equinox

Uncle Ron is pretty happy (understatement) with the latest arrivals for Uncle Ron’s night. Some never before hosted rhumppellations .... and one faithful standby one cannot find any longer at Nova Scotia points of sale.

Let’s see what we have...

You’ve asked for it you got it.... Myres Rum Original Dark. Here is the BligeMunky review.

Last year Uruguay’s Espinillar Reservado Extra Anejo did not survive the trip... It is an awful feeling opening the luggage and wondering how to get the rum soak out of the clothes. This year it has arrived in one piece and now competes for the “travel prize” with Mauritius' Flamboyant Oak Aged Rum

Before we tell you about the next three new guests we must tell you about three new friends of Uncle Ron.... First the efficiently knowledgeable and eager to please Concierge at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston. They were asked: Where can we find a store with good rum?... So first we were sent to Boston’s Intercontential where they have the Rumba.. A marvelous Rum and Champagne bar (the menu). The staff went above and beyond with a marvelous tasting. The 2nd stop was the very finest Bauer Wine and Spirits on Newbury. Howie and Dave’s friendly service sourced us these three:

The Kraken... Academy members first had this in their hands in San Deigo... but after the sample at the Rumba we think it could take on Sailor Jerry... Here is The Examiner’s review....

In 2008 the first Martinique rums we had were not really sipping rums..... But this is most wonderful: Depaz Blue Cane Rhum Agricole... The Rumdood’s review.

And hey who would have known Massachusetts has a distillery that does Rum ... in fact it’s called Ragged Mountain Rum. The Rumdaddy’s review.. It should not be a surprise they like rum in Boston....

One other thing with the Depaz Blue Cane came a bottle of Depaz Cane Syrup... any recipe ideas are encouraged......
