What is Uncle Ron's Academy?

Uncle Ron’s Academy is a happy dynamically fluid crew who gather in various sized groups, committees, gatherings, celebrations enjoying visits with or just hanging around Uncle Ron.

Who is Uncle Ron? Uncle Ron is a "spirit". However, the Academy should say that it was a "aha" sort or moment when we realized that the "Ron" in Ron Carioca or Ron Zacapa Centenario was not a primero nombre but Rum! So when we gather it’s more of a family adventure valuing all those great things like life, love, learning. It is more than a night out on the town... So, we are Uncle Ron’s Academy....

This blog spot will feature all sorts of things like rum, music, feasts, literature, dancing, links to other rum sites, events, adventurers and one of the great causes we support: Los Primos Project

Upcoming Happenings

Havana Nights Dance
Nov. 2nd at 7:00pm

Donald Craig played key role in N.S. winemaking

From Chronicle Herald:
Donald Craig, who passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2011, was renowned nationally and internationally for his berry and ornamental research as a scientist at the Kentville agricultural research station.
Less well understood was the pivotal role he played in the foundation of the Nova Scotia wine industry.

Uncle Ron’s Oyster Cloister Orders

The phone lines have carried Uncle Ron’s wishes and the little jems are being raised out of the Maritime’s water as we type…. The tongs are prodding around the shallows, the boats are bringing in the cages… they are being graded and packed and oh boy some quahaugs and bay scallops too….
Here is where they are from:

Lonnie Langille’ lease on bend where Lazy Bay becomes Wallace Harbour… Not only oyster’s but quahaugs as well.
From The Elliott’s are my grandfather’s favorites from the Wallace Bay cradled Birch Island.

Tom Wood who fishes out of the boats he builds is bringing us some Fox Harbour’s

Merigomish’s Phillip Docker is bringing us his Shandaph Oyster and Bay Scallops

Malagash’s own Bay Enterprises…. Charles and Nancy Purdy’s are sending some Thrum Caps

From Ell Lake all the way down in Pubnico’s Nolan D’eon’s  Ruisseau Oysters

And from Nequac NB Amedee Savoie’s much loved Masion Beausoleil Oysters.
Finally of course in a hands across the water sort of touch  Ted Boutilier has selected some Salutation Cove(PEI) and Caribou (NS)

Here are a few sites with some tasting notes…
